To celebrate this season of joy, Grand Hyatt Taipei and SPEY jointly present a specially designed limited edition “SPEY Single Single Malt Chocolate Gift Box”.  Using high-quality chocolate from VALRHONA and the purest Single Single Malt Whisky from SPEY, the Pastry Chef at Grand Hyatt Taipei, Martin Thompson, perfectly matches the smooth textures and rich flavours to create a selection of hand-made chocolate truffles.

SPEY 1956 Luxurious Gift Box
In 1956, when his first son was born, Mr. John McDonough, the Chairman of Harvie, carefully selected a classic Spanish sherry cask and made this masterpiece, SPEY 1956.  This exclusive whisky has certainly attracted people’s attention over the years.  During the SPEY Single Single Malt Charity Auction Gala Dinner in Taipei in 2006, it was sold for NT$1,528,888 to a personal collector.  Today, SPEY 1956 can be seen only at special charity events worldwide, and has become a symbol of love and care.

This elegant wooden box is priced at NT$6,800, including one piece of SPEY 1956 Single Single Malt Whisky Chocolate, two pieces of SPEY 1991 Single Single Malt Whisky Chocolate, three pieces each of SPEY 1991 Chocolate Truffle and SPEY 1991 Dark Chocolate and one dessert plate “LEAF” from George Jensen.

Abinao 85% chocolate, blended with top-quality African cocoa beans, is used to make the outer layer, which has an extremely bitter taste.  The chocolate is then filled with SPEY 1991, whose rich fruit fragrance and strong taste instantly creates a fascinating flavour that melts in the mouth and leaves a long-lasting fragrance with a mild vanilla aroma.

With a smooth filling of ganache made from cream, chocolate and SPEY 1991, covered with 100% cocoa power, this chocolate truffle perfectly represents the best blend of chocolate and whisky.  From bitter to sweet, the abundant fragrance will definitely keep you coming back for more.
